SCRAPING - Info & Tutorials

Scraping is True Earth's chipping method, to reproduce repainted or worn surfaces.

For example a grey panzer repainted in sand jellow and chipped out. Or very worn paints from which rust comes out.

Products avail to realize several different chipping patterns.

Get started

The base to start from is a painted surface.

If you spread products like Filter & Wash or Rust SDW, protect the whole with CRYSTAL LOCK.

RUN Off

Spread an abundant and even layer of RUN Off. No thinning, increase airbrush pressure instead. Leave it to dry some hours.

Paint an unthinned, thin coat SDW Shading Color  by airbrush, low pressure, evenly and from a distance. Leave it to dry.

Moisten with water, then remove paint to the desired level.

Leave to dry, and then rinse everything gently with water to remove residue. After that the paint will be steady.

RUN Off avails a controlled chipping in several different patterns, depending upon the tool you use.

SCRAP Hard

Spread plenty of unthinned SCRAP Hard, by brush or airbrush. Leave it to dry.

Airbrush an unthinned SDW Shading Color. Thin coat, low pressure, evenly and from a distance. Leave it to dry.

Remove with a dry brush, until the desired result.

Gently rinse with water.

I suggest you to lock the accidental remotion of further paint by airbrushing a thin coat of CRYSTAL LOCK, thinned a lot in plain water.

With SCRAP Hard you obtain a neat chipping in chops and cracked paint effects.
